The History of The San Jose Sharks

The San Jose Sharks are currently leading the second round of playoffs two games

to none against the Detroit Red Wings. It looks equivalent this could be their year. The Sharks

kick innt always been a contender for the Stanley Cup. They have had legion(predicate) ups and downs

throughout their short career as a franchise. They have had legends come and go in their

twenty years. Great coaches and unstable coaches. None of which could find a way to lead the

squad to the cup. They made a ice-less city filled with office buildings and black drivers

into one of the hardest placest to play. San Jose went from no hockey, to a hockey city in

two decades. It wasnt easy pointting a aggroup to the speak area though.

Oakland was home to the California Golden oceanls of the NHL from 1967 to 1976.

Gordon and George Gund became minority owners of the Seals in 1974, and wereand
were instrumental in their run for to Cleveland in 1976 and a 1978 spinal fusion with the
Minnesota North Stars, which they purchased that year. They had wanted to bring hockey
backside to the Bay Area for quite some time, and asked the NHL for permission to move the
North Stars there in the late 1980s, but the coalition vetoed the proposed move.



The new
arena that was being built in San Jose caught the philia of Howard Baldwin, former Whalers
owner. He pushed for a team to be travel to San Jose and finally got what he was asking
for. The Gunds would sale the North Stars to the Baldwins, and recieve an elaborateness
team in San Jose. The Gunds were allowed to take a certain sum of players from their
former team with them to San jose and with the help from the draft, begin play in the 91-
92 season.
San jose was now a home for a hockey team that had no name. The owners of the
