One of the many important turning points in American history came because of the capital of Nebraska-Douglas debates. The debates changed the direction that America was headed. The debates launched Lincoln into champaign intumescence when he took a stand that struck a fit in with many Americans. The Lincoln-Douglas Debates were seven joint debates that took step up during the 1858 senatorial resource campaign in Illinois. The debates attracted a wide amount of national attention because many considered them high-risk topics.
